Today’s article is dedicated completely to Scotchgard, what it does and how it helps keep your carpets and fabrics stain free.

Authorized Scotchgard TreatmentsMost people have heard of Scotchgard and know what it does to help keep carpets and fabrics clean, but a lot of people don’t know how or why it works. Let’s take a look at Scotchgard Scotchgard and its many talents.

Scotchgard was created by 3M in 1956 and has continued to be one of the best carpet protectants used today.  Not only is it pet friendly, but it is also completely safe for your children. Scotchgard can be used on fabric, upholstery, and most carpets, including wool, acrylic, nylon and polyester.  Even dry-clean only and delicate fabrics can be treated with this protectant.

Scotchgard acts as a protectant for your carpet and furniture.  Although it is a water-based solvent, it is able to reflect both water-based and oil-based liquid spills.  When applied, it saturates the carpet from the tips of the fiber to the bottom and creates a type of sealant that enables spills and dirt to remain close to the surface of the carpet rather than damaging deeper areas.

By applying this wonder solution, you are elongating the life-span of your carpets.  We recommend high-traffic areas, such as your living room, hallways, childrens’ bedrooms or dining room.  Dirt won’t nestle into the depths of your carpet, coffee and kool-aid can be sopped up with more ease, and we guarantee the protection for a year.  If something spills and you can’t get it out with our free professional spot remover, we will come out free of charge and take care of the area ourselves.

A few notes:

Scotchgard does not protect 100%, it keeps the spill floating on the tips of the carpet for easy removal.  This is why we will return for free for spot removal if a spill leaves a stain.

Applying Scotchgard should not be used as a substitute for vacuuming.  You should still take care of your carpet as you usually do.  There are also a few corrosive liquids that can possibly change the makeup of the carpet which cannot be stopped or slowed by Scotchgard.  These are rare.  On first application, Scotchgard will also seem starchy and stiff.  Vacuum once, though, and your carpet will return to normal.

With any new stain or spill, we highly recommend sopping and dabbing excess liquid as quickly as possible.  There will be resistance with the Scotchgard, however, excess removal is always best.

Next time you call for a cleaning, add Scotchgard and we guarantee you will be satisfied.
